Hello and Welcome Eagles,
I hope you will be as fascinated with U.S. History as you were for your World History class. My goal for this year is to make U.S. History as exciting and entertaining throughout the school year. I hope that you find history as interesting as I do. Lets work together to make this an enjoyable and productive year. Remember to always do your work with pride and diligence.
Course Description:
Over this school year, we will examine significant events, revolutions, movements, and patterns that have helped shaped United States of America. The dilemmas of the individual, the impact of revolutions, and the destruction brought by war will guide us through the school year. While our emphasis will be on the 19th and 20th centuries, we will research deeper into history to connect modern forms of democracy, culture, and conflict to their historical roots. Throughout this course, students are required to use information from the text and related sources to evaluate causes and explore values in history. All assignments are designed to help students think more widely, feel more deeply, and act more intelligently. The following books are required for this course:
-McDougall Littell: The Americans: Reconstruction to the 21st century
- Howard Zinn: A People's History of the United States
